Trip to Shades of Ngwenya Glass Blowing Factory

27th February – outing to Ngwenya Glass Village and Gilroy’s Brewery. Shades of Ngwenya glass blowing factory is only 20 minutes from Jhb, a glass wonderland where you can watch the ancient art of glassblowing at work and buy fabulous handmade recycled glassware.  Unfortunately at the moment however there is no glass blowing taking place as they are building a new furnace

But there are 12 Shops to browse around. Come and enjoy long lazy lunches at all Gilroy’s real beer brewery under shady trees while the kids have fun in the playground.

We shall meet there at 10h00 and will book lunch at Gilroy’s for anyone who asks us before 16th February 2011. Please phone Norma on 011 867 2250, Christine on 011 867 5421 or Heather on 011 465 1979. But if you want to make you own arrangements that is fine. The details are:

BURNS NICHT

From Chief Norma Craven

A huge thank you to all of you who  made our Burns Nicht such a memorable occasion once again.

It was a great turnout, with many members we have not seen for a while and a good number of new faces, which we hope will turn into new members.

We were also very pleased to host our Provincial Chief and Lady President, Robin and Glenys Kelly.

It was particularly encouraging to have a pipe band again, without which no Burns evening is complete. I hope this will be the start of a long relationship between the Callies and the new Wits Rifles band.

The dancing too – Highland and Country -  was superb. All the artistes performed their tasks with skill and aplomb and the event was kept running without a hitch by our MC and music maestro, Brian.

A special thank you must go to my committee and the non-committee members who volunteered their services to help organise the function.

CONDOLENCES

We have heard with sadness the passing of Marge Arundale. We send our condolences to her family and friends.
