<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: small;">What You Don’t Know About Glasgow</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">·</span> <span style="font-size: small;">John Logie Baird, the inventor of the television, transmitted the first long distance TV pictures from a room in the Central Hotel Glasgow.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">·</span> <span style="font-size: small;">The Glasgow underground or “tube” is known as the “Clockwork Orange” because of the colour of its carriages. Glasgow is the only city in Scotland which has an underground train service.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">·</span> <span style="font-size: small;">Classical concerts are regularly held in the pool of Glasgow’s Western Baths Club, when it has been emptied of water of course.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">·</span> <span style="font-size: small;">Robert Carlyle was originally a house painter prior to becoming a major TV and cinema actor.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">·</span> <span style="font-size: small;">Charles Macintosh, inventor of the waterproof coat, lived and worked in Glasgow where, in 1824, he was responsible for the first commercial manufacture of the waterproof  material.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: small;">Fair Answer</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Teacher:  ‘What outstanding contribution has chemistry made to the world?’</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Wee Laddie: ‘Please miss, Blondes!’</span></p>
<p><em><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></em></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="font-size: small;">Yours aye,</span></em></strong></p>
