NEWSLETTER – April/May 2011

BURNS CELEBRATION:

We all questioned celebrating the birth of our Bard on the hottest, most humid day in Durban

Nevertheless a good time was had by all. Our guest was Chief Lorne Maclaine of Lochbuie!,

who gave the toast. Our Pipe Band, under the leadership of our Hon Piper Gordon Capper, entertained us. Gordon piped in the haggis which was borne by Deputy Chief Mike Jackson.

Alistair then addressed the Haggis, accompanied by a few translations! Micky Chasomeris delivered the Selkirk Grace & Ian Lamb entertained us with some Scottish songs. We are so fortunate to have the talented Nancy Dunsmore & Margaret Gardner to give us a rendering of Burns Poems together. Mike gave a polite gentlemanly toast to the Lassies & Margaret gave a witty response.

May she rest in peace.
