Dear Fellow Caledonians,

Let’s hope our cold weather is something of the past and that it is going to start getting warmer. Trish and Bill are back from their overseas trip and hopefully enjoyed it to the fullest. Trish says that she had a “senior moment” on Monday night and forgot about our meeting but we believe that she was still tired and got back into the swing of things slowly and missed the meeting, thus the reason for me doing the newsletter again this month. Trish will be back next month in full force. Mick also arrives back home today from his weeks break with Steven in the Cape! We hope you had a good time too Mick!

APRIL NEWSLETTER

Hello Callies,

What a busy weekend we had in our Society. John and I had the pleasure of hosting the Federation Chief, Frances Dickson, and her Consort Ivan, on behalf of the Society. On Thursday evening the Committee met her at the Chief’s home and a very pleasant time was had. On Friday we held a Supper to welcome her officially to our Society, and although we seemed to be low on numbers it was very successful. The food was really delicious, thanks to Reinette and her band of helpers. The speeches were short and to the point, and a good time was had by all. This was also the Official Visit of the Provincial Chieftain and Lady President, Mick and Rose Rickman, but sadly Rose was ill and did not attend, however gifts were presented to them and the Federation couple and seemed to be appreciated. A big “Thank You” to all who attended and made it such a success. On Saturday we went through to Bloemfontein, who held a rather late Burn’s Nicht and then on Sunday we all traveled through to Kimberley to a very nice lunch, then home again, exhausted. The Federation couple seemed to enjoy themselves and John and I enjoyed having them in our home.

On 20th March we held our Jimmy Rutherford Golf Day and our new Champion is Ray

Whittle, congratulations Ray and well done.

LAST LAUGH: A man had an appointment with an urologist for a prostrate exam, he was a bit on edge because all his friends had either gone under the knife or had pellets implanted. The waiting room was filled with patients. As he approached the receptionist’s desk he noticed that she was a large unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler. He gave her his name and , in a very loud voice, she said “ Yes, I have your name here. You want to see the Doctor about impotence, right?”

All the patients in the waiting room snapped their heads around and looked at him, now a very embarrassed man. He recovered quickly and in an equally loud voice said “ No, I’ve come to enquire about a sex change operation, but I don’t want the same doctor that did yours. The room erupted in applause!!!!

See you soon,

……………… Cathy
